Trinidad and Tobago Fast Facts
The Islands of Trinidad and Tobago lie between 10° 2' and 11°12'N. Latitude, and 60°30' and 61°56' W Longitude. T&T is an archipelagicstate in the southern Caribbean, lying northeast of the South American nation of Venezuela and south of Grenada in the Lesser Antilles. It also shares maritime boundaries with Barbados to the northeast and Guyana to the southeast.The average length of Trinidad is 80 km and its average breadth is 59 km, Trinidad has a land mass of 4,828 sq. km. or 1,864 square miles. Tobago is 41 km long and 12 km at its greatest breadth and has an area of 300 sq. km, or 116 square miles.The capital city, Port of Spain, is currently a leading candidate to serve as the headquarters of the Permanent Secretariat of the Free Trade Area of the Americas. Of the country's 1.3 million inhabitants 96% reside on the Island of Trinidad and 4% in Tobago.
